Uninstall Excel Add-in Manually

If automatic uninstallation leaves remnants, or you want to ensure a complete cleanup of SEI and related add-ins, follow the instructions below.

Manual uninstallation only applies to versions earlier than Version 2024 Release 3.

Uninstall a previous version​

  1. Open Microsoft Excel.
  2. Click the File tab, then select Options.
  3. Go to the Add-ins section, then click Go.
  4. In the list, clear the checkbox next to SEI Add-in for Excel.
  5. Close all Excel windows.
  6. Go to Control Panel.
  7. Select Programs, then Programs and Features.
  8. Select SEI Excel Add-in and click Uninstall.
  9. Follow the wizard steps to remove the software.

Complete manual cleanup​

If the Excel Add-in was not fully removed during uninstallation, perform the following cleanup steps to ensure all components are deleted:

  1. Remove the Add-in from Excel
    Detach the XLA file from Excel by removing the SEI Add-in from the list of active add-ins.
  2. Delete leftover installation files
    Delete all remaining files and folders from the Excel Add-in installation directory.
  3. Delete EXCEL.EXE.Config (if present)
    Locate and remove the file EXCEL.EXE.Config from the Microsoft Office installation folder.Common locations include:
    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16 (Excel 64-bit, 2016 or later)
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16 (Excel 32-bit, 2016 or later)
  4. Remove registry entries
    In the Registry Editor:
    • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nectari Software Inc. and delete the Excel Add-in folder if it exists.
    • Use Edit, then Find to search for and remove any keys related to SEI Excel Add-in and Ebisoft.Excel.
      For a more thorough cleanup, use regscanner to locate and delete any remaining registry references to the SEI Add-in.
