Sage X3

The Sage X3 template provides a ready‑to‑use set of data models, views, dashboards, and workbooks to help you quickly analyze your Sage X3 data. It supports multiple deployment scenarios, whether you’re connecting directly to production, working with a replicated data warehouse, consolidating several companies, or using the SEI Cloud.

Start by selecting the installation scenario that best matches your environment. After setup, explore the predefined analyses included with the template. For details on available data models, dashboards, and workbooks, see Predefined Analyses.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Sage X3: A supported version installed.
  • Destination database: A target database, preferably matching your Sage X3 database collation.
  • DataSync: A supported version installed.
  • Installation package: The latest package from ShareFile.

Installation scenarios

Choose the scenario that matches your environment:

The template then reads from the warehouse.
For many users or frequent/complex reporting needs, to avoid impacting the main Sage X3 database.
SEI CloudData is synchronized to the Cloud using DataSync. The template connects to the cloud‑hosted data warehouse. Credentials are provided after cloud provisioning.For distributed teams or organizations preferring not to maintain local servers.
Sales and Finance OLAP cubes

If you have the Data Management add‑on and you plan to use the Sales and Finance cubes, some installation steps require additional sub-steps. Follow the instructions for your scenario, and complete the extra steps on the pages where they apply.

Installation steps

Start by selecting step 1 in the scenario you want to follow. Be sure to read each page carefully and follow the instructions as written. Use the button at the bottom of each page to continue to the next step. The Installation Progress on every page shows where you are and what remains.

Scenario 1: Direct production database access

Perform these steps on SEI. Begin at Step 2 (or step 1 only if you are setting up the Sales and Finance OLAP cubes):

  1. (Required — Sales and Finance OLAP cubes) Complete the DataSync configuration first
  2. Set up the data sources in SEI
  3. Import the template
  4. Build and load OLAP cubes
  5. Import users to SEI (Optional)

Scenario 2: Via replicated data warehouse

Use DataSync for replication, then configure SEI:

  1. Create the source connection
  2. Create the destination connection
  3. Configure the global variable
  4. Import the synchronization extraction
  5. Import the cube extractions
  6. Schedule the extraction
  7. Set up the data sources in SEI
  8. Import the template
  9. Build and load OLAP cubes
  10. Import users to SEI

Scenario 3: Cloud

Use DataSync to send your data to the Cloud and complete setup online:

  1. Create the source connection
  2. Create the destination connection
  3. Configure the global variable
  4. Import the synchronization extraction
  5. Import the cube extractions
  6. Schedule the extraction
  7. Import the template
  8. Build and load OLAP cubes
  9. Import users to SEI (Optional)

Configure Sales and Finance OLAP cubes

Complete these steps to set up the Sales and Finance OLAP cubes.
