Reporting Codes

Map accounts to standardized reporting groups so financial KPIs and dashboards stay consistent across companies and chart-of-accounts variations. Reporting groups remove the need for manual adjustments or custom reporting by applying centralized mappings to all reports.

Benefits of using account groups

  • Ensure KPI consistency across dashboards: Calculate metrics with a single, standardized mapping logic.
  • Adapt to different accounting structures: Handle chart-of-accounts variations without changing dashboards or formulas.
  • Reduce manual effort: Eliminate repeated account selections and custom report maintenance.
  • Improve accuracy and trust: Use centralized mappings to reduce inconsistencies and reconciliation issues.
  • Scale and reuse: Apply reporting groups automatically across current and future analyses.

Configure account groups

Map accounts to reporting codes

  1. In the navigation panel, select Data Models and Views.
  2. Expand Sage 100, then General Ledger, then Configuration and Reporting Codes.
  3. Right-click the Reporting Codes Setup data model and select Execute Info Pages.
  4. Under Account Mapping, use the prompt to select a company, and then select Generate.
This generates the default reporting codes used for financial KPIs.
  5. Under Manage Reports, choose a report code and click Create.
  6. Expand Reporting Codes Setup
  7. Open the Reporting Codes Setup worksheet, expand the Generated group, and fill the Accounts columns with corresponding account numbers:
    • Use commas to separate accounts and colons for ranges. For example: 12100,12250:12300,12305.
    • Use asterisks to replace multiple characters. For example: 456* matches all accounts beginning with 456.
    • Use question marks to replace a single character. For example: 456? matches 4-digit accounts beginning with 456.
