Duplicator

The Duplicator feature allows you to copy a formula or layout across multiple values within a dimension—such as accounts, customers, products, or time periods. It automates the creation of repeated report sections while preserving the dynamic behavior of your NecAccess formulas.

Use this tool to avoid manually duplicating formulas when generating similar report blocks. The Duplicator is ideal for preparing printable reports or dashboards where repeated sections are required for different values—all without writing the same formula more than once.

note

The sheet must already contain NECAccess formulas to use the Duplicator.

When to use the Duplicator

  • Repeating layouts or formulas across dimension values: Duplicate a section for each customer, account, or other dimension item.
  • Generating uniform reports across entities: Create a consistent structure across multiple business units, periods, or categories.
  • Avoiding manual copy-paste: Automate formula replication and ensure filters update correctly for each block.
  • Producing printable reports: Generate repeated sections per dimension value in a layout ready for printing or export.

Duplicate report content

  1. In the Add‑ins tab, select Duplicator.
  2. Select the Data Model and Environment.
  3. Choose the Dimension you want to duplicate across.
  4. Specify the reference cell that contains the value used by the formulas for duplication.
  5. Click Ok to generate the duplicated content.

The cell must be referenced by the existing formulas for the Duplicator to work correctly.

Example - Duplicate a report for every department

Suppose you’ve built a financial analysis report that uses NecAccess formulas filtered by department. Instead of manually copying the layout for each department, you can use the Duplicator to automatically generate a separate version of the report for every department in your data model.

  1. For the Data Model, select GL Transaction Details.
  2. From the Dimmension dropdowm, select Analytical Department.
  3. Set the cell reference where the department value is used in the sheet to 'Financials Analysis'!$F$7.
  4. Select Ok to generate individual tabs—one for each department.

Each tab contains the same report layout, automatically filtered to the corresponding department.
