Open View

The Open View feature allows you to access SEI views from your connected Central Point directly within Excel. The list of available views is determined by the data model referenced by the NecAccess formula in the selected cell.

When you open a view, it appears in a separate dialog, giving you the flexibility to explore the data in different formats or analyze it from another angle. This is especially useful when comparing multiple views or reviewing predefined ones created on SEI.

When to open a view​

  • Breaking down summaries: Drill into high‑level values (e.g., total sales) to see detailed records such as invoices or products.
  • Analyzing data by region: Open map‑based or regional views to study performance by location.
  • Using predefined views: Access curated views created by your team or administrator.
  • Combining views for comparison: Open multiple views side by side to compare results across models or segments.
  • Validating or auditing data: Trace and verify numbers by drilling down from summary metrics.

Open a view from Excel​

  1. Select a cell that contains a NecAccess formula.
  2. In the Add-ins tab, select Open View.
  3. In the dialog, review the list of available views based on the selected data model. Each view displays:
    • View ID
    • View Name
    • View Type
  4. Select the view you want to open.
  5. Select Ok. The view opens in your browser in a separate window.
  6. Use the view as needed to explore or analyze the data.
  7. To continue your analysis, select another cell with a NecAccess formula using the same reference configuration. The Open View dialog updates automatically with the corresponding view result.
