Sage 300

The Sage 300 template provides a ready‑to‑use set of data models, views, dashboards, and workbooks to help you quickly analyze your Sage 300 data. It supports multiple deployment scenarios, whether you’re connecting directly to production, working with a replicated data warehouse, consolidating several companies, or using the SEI Cloud.

Before you start, make sure you have:

• Sage 300: A supported version installed.
• Destination database: A target database, preferably matching your Sage 300 database collation.
• DataSync: A supported version installed.
• Installation package: The latest package downloaded from ShareFile.

Installation scenarios

Choose the scenario that best matches your environment:

Scenario	Description	When to choose
Direct production database access	All configuration is performed in SEI, connecting directly to your live Sage 300 production database.	For small or single‑company environments needing light, real‑time reporting.
Via replicated data warehouse	Production data is replicated to a data warehouse using DataSync. The template then reads from the warehouse.	For many users or frequent/complex reporting needs, to avoid impacting the main Sage 300 database.
Consolidated	Combines real‑time access and DataSync replication to support centralized, multi‑company reporting.	For organizations managing multiple Sage 300 companies requiring combined or group reporting.
SEI Cloud	Data is synchronized to the Cloud using DataSync. The template connects to the cloud‑hosted data warehouse. Credentials are provided after cloud provisioning.	For distributed teams or organizations preferring not to maintain local servers.

Cubes configuration

If you want to use the Sales and Finance cubes, some installation steps require additional sub-steps. Follow the instructions in each scenario for details.

Installation steps

Scenario 1: Direct production database access

Perform these steps on SEI:

1. Set up the data source in SEI
2. Import the template

Scenario 2: Via replicated data warehouse

Use DataSync for replication, then configure SEI:

1. Create the source connection
2. Create the destination connection
3. Configure the global variable
4. Import the synchronization extraction
5. Import the cube extractions
6. Schedule the extraction
7. Set up the data source in SEI
8. Import the template
9. Build and load the OLAP cubes

Scenario 3: Consolidated

Set up DataSync for multi-company consolidation:

1. Create the source connection
2. Create the destination connection
3. Configure the global variable
4. Import the consolidation extraction
