Link To Formula

The Link To Formula tool, available in the Add‑ins tab, lets you create dynamic hyperlinks in Excel using the Application Links configured on SEI.

These links can reference cell values as parameters, allowing you to open ERP records, dashboards, or external reports directly from Excel. The tool inserts a NecLink formula into the selected cell with the correct parameters already applied.

  • Launching reports or dashboards: Trigger links that open pre‑filtered reports based on your cell inputs.
  • Adding dynamic links in Excel: Create hyperlinks that automatically update when referenced cells change.
  • Accessing external systems: Open web pages, search engines, or custom URLs from within Excel.
  • Streamlining navigation: Reduce manual steps by jumping straight from Excel to the relevant page.
  • Opening a specific ERP page: Link directly to a customer, invoice, order, or any ERP record using a value from your sheet.
  1. In Excel, open the Add‑ins tab and select Link To Formula.
  2. In the dialog, choose the desired application link from the Link To dropdowm menu.
  3. Define the required parameters based on the selected link. Enter values manually or reference cells to make the link dynamic.
  4. Select Ok. The NecLink formula is inserted into the selected cell.
  5. Click the generated link to open the target page in your browser using the configured parameters.

Example - Open GL Detail for an Account

Use this example to create a dynamic link that opens the GL Detail page for a specific account. This is useful when you want users to jump directly from Excel into the ERP to review transactions for the account and period shown in your sheet.

  1. Select Link To Formula from the Add‑ins tab.
  2. In the Link To dropdown, choose the GL Detail application link.
  3. Enter the required parameters—Fiscal Year, Period From–To, and Account—either manually or by referencing cells.
  4. Select Ok. A NecLink formula is inserted into the selected cell, creating a hyperlink that opens GL Detail using the parameters you provided.
