SEI Cloud Version

SEI can be deployed in the cloud or on‑premises. With the cloud version, you can synchronize your on‑premises or cloud databases using DataSync. Data can be synchronized in three ways: cloud‑to‑cloud, on‑premises‑to‑cloud, or hybrid.

Advantages

The following advantages apply when using SEI Cloud compared to the on‑premises version.

  • Availability management
System availability is continuously monitored. A public status page is available.
  • Application maintenance
Updates, patches, and fixes are automatically applied to the cloud environment.
  • Capacity management
    Infrastructure is managed automatically, including:
    • Performance and load monitoring
    • Performance tuning of activities for most efficient use of existing infrastructure.
    • Storage and infrastructure, software, and connection resources capacity planning
  • Licensing
SQL Server licensing is included and does not require separate management.
  • Backup and restore
    • The internal SEI database supports point‑in‑time restore (to the minute) for 35 days.
    • The data warehouse supports point‑in‑time restore (to the minute) for 1 day. Weekly backups are retained for 2 weeks; monthly backups for 2 months. All backups are geo‑redundant.
    • Disaster recovery is available with an RPO of 4 hours and an RTO of 24 hours.
  • Incident monitoring
Centralized logging is used to detect and track incidents.

Limitations

The cloud version has some limitations because its architecture differs from the on‑premises version.

  • Distribution module
Distribution to a network folder is not supported.
  • Environments and data sources
Only the cloud data warehouse can be accessed. All data must be synchronized to the cloud using DataSync.
    Administrators (and ADMCA) can:
    • Add environments in addition to Production
    • Copy and paste data source details
    • Set a data source as the data warehouse
  • Security
Active Directory authentication is not supported. Supported options are OAuth2, SAML2, or standard users.
  • Central Point Configurator
Access is not available in the cloud. Configuration changes must be requested through support, including:
    • Disabling product notifications (feature available since Version 2022 R1.5)
    • Enabling SQL Execution Logging or View Usage Logging
    • Adjusting dashboard export resolutions for PDF scenarios
  • Cloud DataSync
Because DataSync runs in a managed cloud environment:
    • Excel, Access, and ODBC connectors cannot be used directly
    • To use these connectors, install DataSync on another server (on‑premises, Sage cloud, or partner environment) and upload synchronized data to the cloud
    • ODBC connectors cannot be used in the cloud environment due to multi‑tenant restrictions
  • Cloud environment access
Remote Desktop access to machines is not available. Internal logs cannot be accessed directly.
  • Web server behavior
For Send Comment and Email, the sender address is standardized:
    "FirstName LastName" <noreply@nectari.com>
