Moving a Central Point

There are several reasons for moving a Central Point, such as a new server or a move from Test Serverto Production Server.

The following steps explain how to move a Central Point where the Shared Folder and the Database are on the same server:

  1. Open the Web Application and release the license (Go to the Administration screen > Manage License).
  2. Copy the databases SEI, SEI Cube and BI License on the new server.
  3. Copy the Central Point folder on the new server and share it.
    Important

    The BI Service user (or everyone if there is no specific user) must have total control over the Shared Folder.

  1. In the Shared Folder, edit nec-centralpoint.xml.
  2. In the 3rd line, in the location tag , change the old Shared Folder path by the new one.
  3. Open the Web Central Point Configurator (install it if needed) and connect the new Central Point.
  4. Adjust the databases configuration with the new server information.

  5. If the application (services) are also copied, install the package SEI Server - Win64.exe entering the new Central Point path.

    Otherwise, open the web.config file. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Sage\SEI Server\WebServer\Web.config . Find the tag Configuration > CentralPointDictionary. In the Central Point list, change the old Central Point path by the new one.

  6. Connect with the ADMIN user and enter the license key.
  7. On the workstations with Excel Add-in, remove the Central Point information and create a new connection to the new server.
