System and Server Requirements

Before installing SEI, your hardware must be properly configured and your operating system must be fully installed and operational.

The server requirements include the supported operating systems, database engine, and web servers.

Operating Systems

The following operating systems are supported by SEI for the server components:

  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows Server 2012

Database Management Systems

To install and operate SEI one of the following supported database management systems is required:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2019
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2017
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2016
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Oracle 12c
  • Oracle 11g
  • Oracle 10g

  • IBM DB2

    Note

    SEI can connect to many data source types (external databases) for data access (ERP, CRM, WMS, etc.). These options will be discussed later in this document.

Web Server

  • Microsoft IIS 10.0
  • Microsoft IIS 8.5
  • Microsoft IIS 8.0

Hardware Requirements

Note

The hardware requirements depend on the chosen installation architecture and the volume of data to manage. Consult a SEI specialist for customizing recommendations.

SEI on a dedicated server typically requires at least:

  • CPU: Quad Core 2.8 GHz

  • RAM Memory: 8 GB (16 GB for 100 users)

  • Hard Disk Drive: 5 GB available space (Website + Services + SEI Database)

Data Warehouse: It requires much more space according to the size of the ERP datasource and the number of Cubes. Subsequently, processing large amounts of data will use more memory.

For example, when using the Enterprise Management template that contains 6 Cubes, we noticed that about 80% of the size of Enterprise Management database is usually needed, with (temporary) peaks, during the load, of twice the tables size loaded.

Distribution: In case you plan to schedule a large amount of distribution, we highly recommend to install the distribution on a dedicated server that has at minimum the following:

  • CPU: Quad Core 2.8 GHz

  • RAM Memory: 4 GB

  • Hard Disk Drive: 5 GB available space (Website + Services)

Web Browsers

The end user workstations require the most recent version of at least one of the following Web Browsers. Microsoft Excel is needed to use the SEI Excel Add-in.

  • Internet Explorer 11.0.42
  • Safari 14 on Mac

Google Chrome is the favored web browser for SEI version 8.0. and later.
