OLAP Manager
On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) is a category of software technology that enables users to access and analyze business information stored in multiple, and often, very large data bases. The definition and set-up of OLAP data is multi-dimensional, meaning the information can be compared in many different ways. Terminology that is often related to OLAP, include data cubes and data warehousing.
SEI provides its own OLAP engine for Business Intelligence.
Why using Cubes as a data warehouse
- Does your company deal with high volumes of data?
- Do you often need to compare this year’s data with last year’s data?
- Do you need to merge data from multiple data sources?
Cubes perform well with high volumes of data.
Cubes are ideal for comparing and building results.
For example, to compare this year’s data with last year’s data.
Cubes work well with different data sources, such as Sage
Enterprise Management Sales data and old ERP sales data.
Understanding the Process for Building Cubes
Additional OLAP cubes can be added to the database as needed. This should only be performed
after a complete analysis of the company’s data requirements.
